Review: Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch tablet

Posted in Misc, Reviews, Video, mouse by Omar C. Published February 8th, 2010

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros: Pressure sensitive, works with the pen or your finger, reasonably priced, very thin and light weight.
Cons: There’s a bit of a learning curve when working with the pen the first few times.
Overall: I’ve always wanted to extensively test a Wacom tablet to see if I could get the hang of it. After using the Bamboo Pen & Touch, I can honestly say it’s a unique experience. This is the perfect device for those that are artists and want a way to create brush strokes and drawings on your computer. I personally will not be using this product for my future graphic design projects, but that’s only because I’m such a die hard mouse user. But if you’re looking for new input device that will give you a new way to interact with your computer, then you should really give one a test drive, you just might get hooked.

You can purchase this product for $99 from Wacom.com.

Review: MoGo Talk case/bluetooth earpiece

Posted in Bluetooth, Cases, Editors' Choice, Headsets, Reviews, Video by mrdoubled50. Published February 8th, 2010

Rating: 9.5 out of 10
Pros: Very sleek design, lightweight and slim, amazing sound and voice quality, one of a kind case for iPhone 3G & 3GS
Cons: Price is a little high at $129.99, I worry about scratching the bluetooth earpiece while laying the phone down, no iPhone bezel protection.

Overall: This is my go to case right now.  Having a place to stow my blue tooth when not in use is hands down the best idea I’ve seen for a case.  Even with the hefty price tag I recommend this case to anyone who uses a blue tooth headset.  The price is comparable to other blue tooth headsets on the market but here you also get a slim fit case which not only charges the headset but gives you a place to store it when not in use. I like this case combo so much that I’m awarding it our Editors’ Choice award.

Review: SGP Vintage Flip Case

Posted in Cases, Reviews, Video by Tom Moccia. Published February 8th, 2010

Rating: 8 out of 10
Pros: Quality leather case, handmade, takes on a unique personality with each scuff and scratch, very soft interior that has a quality fit and finish.
Cons: Stiff hinge until you work it in, words on inside of case leave smudge marks on screen although they are easily wiped off, a little hard to open with one hand because the clamp is flush to the top of the case.
Overall: The SGP Vintage is a quality hand crafted leather case designed in California.  The soft leather takes on a personality of its own with each scratch, scuff, and ding which is very weekend casual and reminds me of wrangler jeans and cowboys.  The biggest downfall for me it that the words on the inside of the cover leaves residue on the screen so I have to wipe it off every time I open the case.

The SGP Vintage Handmade Leather Flip Case is available for $45.99 from their website.

Logitech QuickCam Pro Mac Edition

Posted in Editors' Choice, Reviews, Video by Nick. Published February 4th, 2010

Rating: 9.5 out of 10
Pros: Amazingly Crisp, Clear Pictures. Very versatile, great microphone, rightlight 2 technology always gives you good lighting
Cons: Price is definitely on the high side at $130
Overall: This is the best web cam I’ve used to date. It surpasses the iMac on FPS, and overall picture. Virtually no blurring even when moving quickly. Only downside is the price being $130. If you have a mac mini or Mac pro and are looking for a high quality web cam for video conferencing, this will surpass all your expectations. If you’re looking for a vast upgrade to the built in web cam and mic on the iMac and Macbook line, this is an improvement, but not worth $130 when comparing to apple’s built in accessories.

Did The iPad Have A Camera?

Posted in News by Ryan W.. Published February 4th, 2010

ipadMission Repair, a company based in Kansas, has gotten their hands on a few of the replacement parts for the iPad. Its seems though, Apple might have been holding back on us. The upper most part of the iPad bezel shows a recession similar in size to an iSight module. So Mission Repair decided to find out if it was indeed the location of a removed camera. Using a module taken from a MacBook Pro, you can clearly see that the iPad was indeed to have a camera. What does this mean for us? Well hopefully the next generation of the iPad will have some sort of front facing camera. And if you’re holding back on buying one with a camera, at least you know it might be coming down the line. Post up and tell us what you think.

Speck Artsprojekt Fitted Limited Edition

Posted in Cases, Reviews, Video by Tom Moccia. Published February 3rd, 2010

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros: Better fit and finish than the original fitted cases, original art from ArtsProjekt Artists, nice matte finish on the interior, Limited to 250 units each design.
Cons: Two piece may be a turn off to some buyers, priced a bit high.
Overall: The Speck Artsprojekt Limited Edition Fitted Cases are very unique and designed by artists who take pride in their work.  With them being limited to 250 units per design they will go fast and become collectors items.  Speck has really improved the fit and finish of the Fitted and with the soft matte interior the fitted has gone to the next level.  More designs will be released and I am looking forward to seeing what the artists come up with next.  With the iPhone case market becoming somewhat stale it’s nice to see organizations partnering with each other to move their brands forward.  The only “want” with these cases would be the price point and I know they are Limited Edition but $39.95 is right on the edge of becoming too expensive.  I would much rather see them at the $32-$34 price point.  All in all props to Speck & Artsprojekt yet again for bringing some color and diversity to the iPhone case market.

You can learn more about this initiative by visiting Speck by clicking here and you can purchase these cases from Zazzle/Speck by clicking here.
