iPhone+lightsaber=iSaber

iSaberOk, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a huge Star Wars Geek, big surprise I’m sure, and I remember seeing this app called MacSaber for the macbook that allowed you to use the accelerometer motion sensor inside to create Lightsaber sounds whenever you tilted it back or moved it in different degrees. It was pretty awkward to use and you looked really stupid waiving around a laptop in the air.

Well when I realized that the iPhone had a similar accelerometer which it used to change the view from portrait to landscape, I had the idea of using it to accomplish the same objective as the MacSaber. Well it looks like someone beat me to the punch, behold iSaber.

According to Gizmodo, it’s still a super- early beta and doesn’t really work all that well, but apparently the creator of MacSaber is working on his own version of it and hopefully that one will work better. As you can imagine, once the app is installed on your iPhone, you can waive it around like a dork and it will respond with different lightsaber noises. This might be the app that pushes me to put Installer.app on my iPhone so I can install these kinds of hacks. If I get enough courage to do so, I’ll make sure to make a video of myself being a dork and using my iSaber and post it here.
