Jacob here, allow me to introduce myself – my name is Jacob and I am an iPhone owner. An iPhone lover?.. not quite there yet which I will touch on later. I live in NYC, the city that probably has the most iPhone owners. I did not jailbreak (yet) – and as a result left with the incomplete, slow, ‘lacking’ iPhone. Some of you may be offended by the word “lacking” – don’t get me wrong, the iPhone is a wonderful piece of gadgetry. But we all know, that it could use a little bit more of…….Which is why, even if you’re disagreeing with the iPhone “lacking” anything – you’re secretly anticipating the 2nd Gen iPhone which is rumored to debut sometime in June/July. How do I know this?

Well we have a new writer joining the BMAi family, his name is Jacob. Here what he had to say about himself:
I am a recent college graduate from Binghamton University with a degree in Economics. With that said, I can tell you that all the economic terms I read in the newspaper points to one thing -> recession! & the fact that Fed has too much power. I grew up in New York, attending America’s finest public school system and had hopes of becoming either a doctor, lawyer, astronaut, etc. I am 22 years old, (23 this year) with a love for music and passion for photography. I love coffee, but I know tea is healthier. I’m not used to saying “You’re welcome.” growing up in New York, but instead screaming “You’re welcome!” out of spite. I like technology, I love researching to satiate my own curiosity and natural appetite to know whatever intrigues me. I’m always open for discussion, talking and learning – I’m not really into gossiping and glazing over celebrities and everyone’s need to lose 10 pounds. I currently work for Corporate America, but have a vision of starting a non-profit organization- the plans are still being drawn in my head. I love running. I love dogs. I am Jacob.

Gizmodo.com wrote this in regards to a recent Diggnation episode:
Digg’s Kevin Rose has now settled down for the obvious: he says that the 3G version of the JesusPhone will have a camera on the front for video-conferencing with other 3G iPhone and Macintosh iChat users. Most likely he is right about this, but not about the rest of his predictions:
Kevin also said that Apple has restricted background-running applications because they don’t want competition to iChat from third-party applications made using the SDK. The fact is that, if they wanted to ban any direct competition to their own applications, they will simply not approve them for publication and get done with it, without affecting any other developer.
What do you think? Personally, I see a 3g iPhone on the horizon before another camera. What’s your opinion?
[Update] I just received the following information from my Case-Mate contact in regards to the material on the inside of the case: “The inside of the case is actually a custom molded, impact resistant plastic shell. This is done for protection reasons. So, a precise mold is made of each device, then the plastic shell is constructed from the mold. The Italian leather is then wrapped around the shell, and seamed by hand in our factory. The lining of the case is a silk/nylon blend. The silk is for softness, the nylon is for protection from moisture. All cases are inspected by hand before they leave the factory. There is no cardboard in the case. But, the plastic shell is necessary for impact resistance. If we made the case purely out of leather, it would not be as protective”
Rating: 6 out of 10
Pros: The perforated leather with the red underneath is a nice touch
Cons: Quality seems cheap, probably wouldn’t last you too long
Verdict: There’s probably a few other cases that I’d recommend for $35 that would hold up better.

Pros: You won’t have to search for another paperclip to remove your sim card anymore
Cons: It’s an $8 paper clip [update: price dropped to $5.99]
Verdict: An interesting idea, but I think I’ll stick to paper clips and push pins

That’s right! Zibree updated Ziphone to 2.6b. Go and grab it here for the PC and for the Mac.
In case you aren’t in the know… Ziphone is the best and easiest way to activate/jailbreak/unlock ANY iPhone. I can confirm that it works perfectly on my iPhone that was OTB 1.1.1 with the 3.9BL after RESTORING to 1.1.3 and 1.1.4. Definitely the best app ever.
Also, I want to apologize for the lack of posts on Buymeaniphone.com and on my sites, Tekbru.com and Dealbru.com. I have been in the process of moving and also, to make things even more difficult, my primary machine, my oh so amazing MacBook Pro has been at the Apple Repair Center…
I miss my MBP.
But, now that I am all settled in, I will have plenty more posts! Keep checking my sites, and of course, BuyMeAniPhone.com!
