Flash is coming for the iPhone

Yes, you heard right. Adobe has every intention of adding Flash to the iPhone and in fact one of their Chief Executives mentioned that they have already downloaded the iPhone SDK. They plan on building a Flash Player specifically for the iPhone and then distributing it on Apple’s iTunes App store.

It’s good to see that Adobe hasn’t forgotten about us. I’m not sure if Steve Job’s excuses/reasons for not having Flash on the iPhone were valid, but it seems now that Adobe is not going to sit around and wait for them to figure it out. As many of you know, most video players like YouTube, Revver, and the online TV shows on NBC.com are all flash based. So when Adobe figures this out, you just might be able to watch full Episodes of The Office without having to pay and download it from iTunes. Of course without a WiFi connection, the experience wouldn’t be quite the same but, you get the idea.

You can bet that Apple isn’t very happy with this. I would love it if they make flash for the iPhone something that can be turned on or off when you want it… that would be awesome. Sometimes you want flash and other times you want nothing to do with it.
