iPhone 2.000000*

Posted in News by Omar C. Published March 31st, 2008

Jacob here, allow me to introduce myself – my name is Jacob and I am an iPhone owner. An iPhone lover?.. not quite there yet which I will touch on later. I live in NYC, the city that probably has the most iPhone owners. I did not jailbreak (yet) – and as a result left with the incomplete, slow, ‘lacking’ iPhone. Some of you may be offended by the word “lacking” – don’t get me wrong, the iPhone is a wonderful piece of gadgetry. But we all know, that it could use a little bit more of…….Which is why, even if you’re disagreeing with the iPhone “lacking” anything – you’re secretly anticipating the 2nd Gen iPhone which is rumored to debut sometime in June/July. How do I know this?

Well, obviously if you type in “iPhone News” in Google, you’ll get all the ‘sources’ you need. I don’t need anyone inside Apple who wants to remain anonymous to tell me a 2nd Gen is coming out – or that Apple recently made a 10 million unit order overseas, or even that all the iPhones are currently sold out in the NY stores (actually, I called the 5th Avenue store and they said 8gb is out but there are still a few 16gb left). It doesn’t really matter who has the hot tip first, because in a span of a few minutes it’ll be all over other websites.

This is probably their best marketing tool – I wouldn’t be surprised if this is some marketing tactic that we’re all falling for because we all ‘love’ the iPhone so much. But I’m digressing..So iPhone 2 – Will it have everything we’re looking for? The things that are ‘lacking’ right now? I’m not so sure it will but I know that it’ll have the things that iPhone 1st gen does not have – like 3G network, all the native programs, and what have you. But the point is, if you couldn’t wait for the 2nd gen, and bought the iPhone and if you don’t have another $400-$600 to spend on yourself, will you buy the iPhone 2? I see this as the continuing trend Apple presents itself with – which is why I’m not so sure I love Apple. Although I think their products are amazing*.

You’re more then welcome to disagree, but I think you know what I mean. Well that was my first post – it was rather long, but don’t get too used to it. I’ll be logging off now, more to come soon.

i don’t know.. i was thinking of selling mine and trying to get the new one. but seems such a hassle…. 2.5g isn’t THAT bad…………

welcome to the team. Fresh back from my skiing trip i can see where your coming from. it could be a marketing plot, but then again look at the ipod. it happened with the mini, and now with the classic and nano. About a 1 year gap between new models. so more than likely we’ll see one this year. If not I’m guessing macworld 2009. As for buying the iPhone 2, You can bet I’m queuing outside the sheffield UK apple store from 3pm onwards on day of release. iPhone 2 is a definite for me. Maybe a bit more work for more money but it was worth it for my iphone, and I’m sure it will be next time.
