More 3G iPhone rumors

Engadget is reporting some specs from a “trusted Source” about the 3G iPhone we are all hoping for. As the story says “the second-gen iPhone is already well into testing, and numerous units are floating around in super secret pockets.” The trusted source got a chance to check one out and said……

  • The first thing people will notice: the 2nd gen iPhone will be about the same size and shape as the first gen.
  • It will, of course, have 3G. And proper GPS!
  • The most noticeable physical difference is back of the phone is no longer metal — the whole thing is glossy black, from top to bottom. The volume buttons are now chrome.
  • Because it’s got a little less metal to deal with, it doesn’t have quite as many angular edges. The battery is (still) not removable.
  • The phone itself will be slightly thicker than the first gen device.
  • The headphone jack will no longer be recessed, and will finally be flush with the body.
  • The device itself uses roughly the same size and resolution screen as the first generation product.
  • No solid word on battery life or storage capacity.

The description closely resembles the “leaked” image of the 3G iPhone posted by iPod Observer a while ago. If this “source” is to be believed, then maybe all the pieces are fitting together. In my opinion, i dont think that the final iphone would have the glossy back. why you may ask. well, why would apple change all the macbooks ( except normal macbooks) and desktops to aluminium look, and then go back to plastic for the new iPhone. i think, if this is proven to be real, the black glossy version will just be a prototype, just to make people less aware of it if they notice it. The final line of Engadgtes story reads ” It could ship (or be introduced) as early as July — but it’s worth noting that none of this is necessarily finalized, and any of it could change between now and its introduction. You really never know with Apple!” Whats your views guys?

Mike H. says...

that picture isn’t a prototype of the 3g iphone. Thats just a normal iphone customized by Colorware. See http://www.colorware.com. I had my iPhone color changed to brown and tan and the stuff they use is a glossy scratch resistant finish. Also when they customize it they put their logo on the bottom back right above the battery and if you look at the above picture the logo has obviously been photoshopped off.
