What’s Your Price?

PhotobucketAs I sit here at work talking to a friend about launch day eve plans, I suddenly remember seeing this lady on TV showing up at an AT&T store with less than 20 minutes before launch time of the first gen iPhone. She paid this kid $800 for his number one spot in line somewhere in Texas. She had plans of buying all of the iPhones in the store and reselling them on ebay only to find out, when she got in the store, that AT&T was enforcing a one iPhone per customer rule. To add insult to injury, the guy who received the $800 for the number one spot was still able to obtain his iPhone because he had other people in line with him that weren’t planning on buying one. I’m sure many of you have seen the news report. It was pretty much one of the funniest moments of Summer 2007 for me.

Anyway, I just wanted to see how you, our readers, felt about this. For those of you camping out the day before, if someone shows up at 7:45am offering you money for your spot in line, what would you do? Take our poll after the jump…

if i were to stand in line , and someone came up to me and asked, can i take your spot in line for 800, i would say yeah! i’d just come back the next day or something and rack up!
but thats only if i were to stand in line.

I would, I’m a cheap bastard, plus I’m sure they will be available somewhere. I’d make sure the bills are real first though.

if someone paid me any money at all to take my spot in line, i’d do it easily. IT”S AN IPHONE! YOU CAN LIVE WITHOUT IT FOR ONE DAY. i don’t even understand why people would want to stand on a huge line to get an iphone on the first day. how about you wait 20 hours and get it the next day. its not that hard.

Yeah, as much of an Apple fan boy as I am, I don’t think I could turn down, cold hard cash. Besides, you could probably still come back later that day and get one. I went to the Apple store last year an hour after launch and there was zero line, in and out in 2 minutes with an iPhone in hand.

I just got a couple months later and if I were in line and was offered cash, then that person just paid for my iPhone…..

I didn’t get my first iPhone until November. So I wasn’t in line.

i got mine in late Dec. ….. Had to save the money for it…….
