iPhone Theme – Gradience

Posted in News, jailbroken by Ryan W.. Published November 29th, 2008

After a little thought I realized that we really haven’t spent any time on iPhone themes for jailbroken iPhones. So from here on out, every once in awhile I’ll be posting up some random themes that I have decided to use or that I think people would like. To me, themes separate a person’s iPhone from the crowd, and by doing these posts, hopefully we can help you accomplish that. I am currently using Gradience, made by Misecia of MacThemes2. This theme is simplistic, yet completely different from the stock iPhone theme. Complete with sliders, pop-ups, badges, and SMS bubbles. It will provide a Semi-Complete overhaul of your iPhone. Not only a great theme, but an ever changing one. Misecia has just released a new icon pack, that bumps the total amount of available icons to 500 for the theme. So rest assured, most of your apps will have a custom icon available. If not, ask politely and I’m sure you’ll be rewarded.

App Review: Arcade Hoops Basketball by Skyworks

Posted in Apps, Apps, Game, Reviews by Tom Moccia. Published November 29th, 2008

Today we are reviewing the ArcadeHoops App by Skyworks and if the name doesn’t give the premise of this app away let me bring you into my world. When I originally took a peek at this app in the app store I thought to myself “Ok, here’s a ‘shoot a lame ball at the lame hoop’ game.” But brace yourself because what I am about to say only happens once or twice a year, I was wrong. Yes, I said it, I was wrong. Upon opening this app and starting to play it brought me back to younger days. I was transported to one of two places, the first was the old arcade where we would shoot those cantaloupe sized basketballs up at that seemingly dime sized hoop for hours on end. The second was my local college pub where you could grab a pitcher and a pizza for less than $20 and challenge your buddies to the long 3 point shooting contests and it was all in the palm of my hand on my iPhone. Arcade Hoops transports you to the arcade version of this great game.

App Review – Guitar Rock Tour

Posted in Apps, Apps, Reviews, Video by Ryan W.. Published November 28th, 2008

Is Tap Tap getting old? Or are you looking for something a little different in the iPhone game front? Well take a look at GUITAR ROCK TOUR! I know it would have sounded better in a cheesy announcer voice. All kidding aside, this game is pretty snazzy. Not only can you rock out to some pretty classic rock hits, but there are also 51 stages, and 3 levels of difficulty. Also Game Loft has given you the ability to play either drums or guitar in this Rock and Roll monster! It looks as if Game Loft is stepping up as the premier iPhone game developer. Check out the video for more game details, AND ROCK ON!!!!!

Radius Products just recently contacted me and asked if I’d like to review their headphones, of course I said yes. I actually just started testing them a few days ago and so far I’m pleasantly surprised with the Atomic Bass headphones. That video review will be up very soon, but I just wanted to let you guys know about a promo code that Radius setup for our readers. Purchase any of their headphones and use promo code buymeaniphone to receive 10% off plus Free Shipping. Not a bad deal, especially since you don’t have to wake up at 5 am on Black Friday to receive this discount.

App Review: RealSoccer

Posted in Apps, Game, Reviews, Video by Ryan W.. Published November 27th, 2008

I hate watching Soccer. Or as our resident Brit Danny says “FootBall” or “Futball”, who knows. But did I already mention I hate watching Soccer? To me if people are running around for 90 minutes, a score should be higher that 2-0. But that’s just my opinion. Now playing Soccer on my iPhone is another thing completely. RealSoccer by Gameloft has got to be the best game on the iPhone, period. Period. This game has entranced me so much I play it at work, while picking up the misses from work, and while being indisposed. I know I’m not the only one who does it either, so don’t give me that look. The controls of this game are amazing. The graphics, while not on 360 or PS3 levels, are just phenomenal for the iPhone. At $7.99 it is one of the higher priced games for the iPhone, but well worth the price. Take a look at the game play below.

Video Review: Mophie Juice Pack battery

Posted in External Battery, Reviews, Video by Tom Moccia. Published November 26th, 2008

Rating: 10 out of 10
Pros:
more than doubles your iPhone 3G battery life, doubles as a case, keeps the form factor of the iPhone, very ergonomic
Cons:
specific units for the iPhone and iPhone 3G, a little sticker shock at $99.95
Verdict: The Mophie Juice Pack battery for the iPhone 3G has quality design, workmanship and attention to detail. Any iPhone user who wants more than double the battery life would benefit from the Mophie Juice Pack, especially the road warriors amongst us. Photos don’t do this product justice, it looks and feels even better in person.

You can purchase this from Mophie for $99.95
Use promo code gobblegobble3G now through Friday (11/28) for 25% off.
