Review: Speck PixelSkin silicon case

Up next for review we have the Speck Pixel Skin. The Pixel skin is a silicone skin for the iPhone. The word “Pixel comes from the interesting design that Speck has chosen, which is a series of squares across the back and sides of the iPhone. The case also comes in “7 Tasty Colors” as speck likes to say. Read on after the break to check out the rest of the review.

The Case

The case is really nice. The silicone feels really strong and thick, and not like any cheap silicone you may get from some other companies. The square’s that cover the skin would help if the phone were to be dropped in this case. It is as though they would add more bump protection to the iPhone. Your iPhone would most likely survive, but if your the adventurous type, I wouldn’t recommend this case. All ports are easily accessible as you would expect from a case. Speck has decided to cover the volume and sleep/wake buttons, but have included rubber covers, so that its protected, but still accessible. They also chose to cover the home button and bottom section of the screen, I think this is a nice idea. As well as providing a little protection, it also adds some more colour to the front of the iPhone, a nice little touch in my opinion. The case picked up a little lint in my pocket like you would expect, but it was really easy to wipe off. I also got some pen on it, and it just wiped off.

Everything Else

No accessories are included with this case. Some cases I have had in the past include things such as dock adapters, screen protectors and other things, but this case doesn’t include anything. This in my opinion is bad. I think that ALL cases should at least include some form of screen protection. If that is in the form of a film, or something built into the case, it doesn’t matter, but you must try to protect the most important part of the iPhone.

Overall

Pros: A great case. Provides enough protection for everyday use. Available in some funky colours too . $25 is pretty cheap for this case

Cons: No screen protection.
