App Review: iCam

Posted in Apps, Reviews by Omar C. Published January 25th, 2009

icam_iphone

Have you ever wondered who is on your computer when your not there? I dont know about you but I can tell when someone has been on my computer. Instead of making assumptions on who it was, why not get an app that can show you LIVE!

There’s a really cool app called iCam it is made by SKJM , LLC. This app lets you use your webcam and transmit the live video into your iPhone. It is very simple to set up and get running. All you have to do is install the iCam source into your computer. Then you make a username and password for that computer. Open the app on your iPhone and put in the same username and password. Thats it! Once you do that you’ll be able to identify the culprit. Not only that but you can secretly see if someone is snooping around in your room or office. You can watch up to 4 different cams at a time. It will work under wifi, 3g, or even Edge.

Dont think it is only for Macs, Window users can use it as well. This only cost $4.99, and trust me it is a $4.99 well spent. In the future not only can you watch the video but they intend on adding sound as well. This is the ultimate spy tool. I would Highly recommend it!

Apple themed CES area Revealed.

Posted in News by Danny Smallman. Published January 23rd, 2009

There were many rumors flying around that in 2010, Apple would attend CES after announcing that 2009 would be the last MacWorld Expo they would attend. However, more details have emerged that may dispel most of these rumors.

The Apple related area will be known as the iLounge Pavilion. This will showcase “iPod and iPhone accessories”. This means that lots of new products are most likely going to be on display from manufactures. Don’t be too surprised if you see a few developers getting in on the action with new apps they are about to release.

At the show, the iLounge Pavilion will be located in the Convention Center’s South Hall, to provide a central location for all visitors. Also, in the center of the pavilion will be relaxation iLounge, where you can just sit down and relax. Current plans are being drawn up for developers/manufactures, and anyone interested should contact CEA (Consumer Electronics Association)

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros:
Awesome craftsmanship, quality, and attention to detail. Completely customizable. Includes a nice leather pouch.
Cons:
Very expensive, takes 45 days to have custom made.
Verdict: Vaja is the best leather case maker in the industry, in my humble opinion. If you can afford it, buy a Vaja Case. They are durable and should last you a long time.

You can purchase this product directly from Vaja, prices starting at $200.

Video Review #127: Scosche reviveLITE charger

Rating: 8 out of 10
Pros:
No wires, no fuss.
Cons:
If your iPhone is in a case, it won’t fit. LED light not very bright.
Verdict: This is a really good travel charger that’s small and compact. The reality is that most wall outlets are low to the ground and usually out of reach, so if you want to answer your phone while it’s ringing and you’re in bed, be prepared to get out and search for your phone.

You can purchase this product directly from Scosche for $39.99.

App Review: Multi-Photo Email

Posted in Apps, Editors' Choice, News, Reviews by Ryan W.. Published January 21st, 2009

multi-photo emailI know there are a lot of things that I complain about when talking about the iPhone. And when I find an application that fills a need on my phone I jump for joy, (not really, but you get my drift). One thing I completely don’t understand about the iPhone is the lack of ability to email multiple photos. It seems like such a small thing to be given the option to select multiple images to send. So when I saw Multi-Photo Email by Aqua Eagle LLC in the app store, it was a sure buy. The application allows you as the title says to send multiple photos in one email, ending the unnecessary practice of sending one photo per email. Not only that, but this is a one stop shop application. Unlike other email applications, you add and send from inside the app itself. This works because the application connects directly to your providers SMTP servers and sends the photos as attachments to the email address provided, or you can select one from your address book. You are also given the option to add a subject title and body to accompany the photos. In the application settings, you can adjust the size and photo quality to aid in sending pictures quicker, or just send a better picture quality. For $.99 you CANNOT beat the functionality of this app. That is why it has gotten the Buy Me An iPhone’s Editors Choice Award for being such an awesome application. Please, support the developer and buy the app today!

Review: Incipio feather

Posted in Cases, Reviews, Video by Tom Moccia. Published January 21st, 2009

Rating: 7 out of 10
Pros:
Available in many colors, minimalist: hardly feels as if there is a case on, silky feel slides in and out of pocket nicely yet not slick like a glossy case, lighter colors will show silhouette of the Apple logo, comes with screen shields and cleaning cloth.
Cons:
Leaves all of the chrome bezel exposed, not a ton of shock protection.
Verdict: The feather from incipio is a solid offering for those who want a very minimalist case.  It’s a solid performer but does leave the chrome bezel exposed; so if you like seeing the chrome accent of your phone this is a great case for you.

You can purchase this product directly from incipio for $19.99
