This is one of the most hyped about Griffin cases for the iPhone 3G, and now, I have a review for you guys. The Clarifi isn’t just a normal case for your iPhone, it’s also a tool. Read on after the break for the rest of the review.
The main selling point for the Clarifi is the fact that it will allow you to take close up pictures with ease. The case has a built in Macro lens, that lets you take clearer pictures at a closer range. This isn’t outstanding, but for taking pictures of small objects, or for objects with small text on it, this is a great case. Check out These pictures, (Here, Here) for a comparison of the camera. The first one shows the image of my Keyboard and my CD cover without the lens, and the second shows the same items with the lens. As you can see, its not a HUGE difference, but it is definitely noticeable.
This case just isn’t about the nice camera lens though, after all, cases are built to not only make things look nice, but also to help protect your iPhone. This Case succeeds in both of these. This case uses a mixture of a soft rubbery plastic material, and a glossy polycarbonate shell. While I never do this, I can actually confirm that this case will survive a drop. A few days after getting this case, I dropped my iPhone in a DIY store, but sure enough, it is still as goods as it was before I got the case.
One problem I found with this case, is that when I first put the case on, where the bottom of the case joins with the top part, the screen protector was catching on the edge, and it was causing the screen protector to lift, but with just a little guidance, I was able to get it past it and it held down ok. The great advantage of having the bottom part come off however, is that it is part of the EasyDock design by Griffin, which allows you to dock the phone into a standard iPhone 3G dock without having to remove the case.
Overall this is a really good case, it does what is supposed to do, and provides you with a bit more functionality for your iPhone. This is why I am giving this case the BMAi Editors Choice award, as it does everything you expect it to and more. This case is definitely worth the price. ($34.99)
This case is available to buy direct from griffin here.
I love the close up lens but it doesn’t stay in place. It slides around freely which means A) it doesn’t protect the build in lens B) it gets in the way when taking regular pictures and C) can also move around when taking close ups. Is this a common problem?
