Cons: $59.99 Price tag may be just a little too high for some.
Overall: If you’re a fan of genuine leather cases you will like this one by Incipio. The price tag however may steer some people away.

Becoming an iPhone Owner Just Got Easier!!!

Posted in News by Tom Moccia. Published May 14th, 2009

drop-shipToday Apple has started taking orders for direct shipment of iPhones to new AT&T customers via their website. In the past new customers needed to buy their phone either from a physical Apple store, AT&T Store or from the AT&T website. This new way of purchasing an iPhone is valid to only NEW AT&T customers. They can either order and have their phones shipped to them or reserve their phone for pickup at an Apple Store where an Mac Genius can help them with setup. Why you would want to go through the trouble of website ordering to reserve and pickup your phone at a store is beyond me because it’s not like iPhones are in short supply but whatever makes you happy. Now if you tell me I can reserve the much anticipated “next generation” iPhone and have “special” pickup on launch day, now we’re talkin’. That being said if you don’t want to go through the hassle of visiting an AT&T store and you don’t have an Apple store close by than this “drop ship” method may be for you. It’s nice to see Apple is making it a bit easier for folks to get their hands on an iPhone and we can only hope that maybe just maybe this is a test run for direct ship of the new iPhone. How nice would it be to have ample supply to meet the demand on launch day? Bliss.

Rating: 7 out of 10
Pros: Fun Home Run Derby style game, good graphics and extra surprises when you hit lights and such, attention to detail as usual from Skyworks.
Cons: Would love for higher levels that let you hit against a real pitcher and that progresses to curves and harder pitches.
Overall: Another winner from Skyworks. Realistic and quite fun and addicting but unless your a die hard baseball fan the replay value may be on the short side for you.

You can purchase Batter up Baseball for $1.99 in the App Store or you can try the Lite version for FREE!!

Rating: 7 out of 10
Pros: Nice quality silicone tips and a variety of sizes to choose from, comes with leather pouch
Cons:
no mic for talking on the iPhone on this version
Overall: This is a nice pair of earphones, the sound quality is good, but I don’t know if I would pay $99 for them, especially without the mic.

You can purchase these directly from Scosche for $99

iPhone Tip: Organizing All those Apps

Posted in Apps, Tips, Video by Tom Moccia. Published May 12th, 2009

We all know that organizing Apps on your iPhone is a hassle especially when you have multiple pages.  Frankly, I don’t think Apple anticipated the App store to be such a phenomenal success otherwise you think they would have designed a better app management system, if not on the iphone itself at least a drag and drop system in iTunes.  That being said here is a tip that I picked up from a fellow reviewer (Key714) that I thought I would pass along.  Hope this helps in the  oranization of your beloved Apps.

Rating: 6 out of 10
Pros: Nice graphics, good game play
Cons: price price price, this game is way overpriced
Overall: This is a nice game and if it was like $2.99 it would be a HIT in the app store but for $5.99 it is just not worth checking out.

New iPhone Details/Rumors from Chinese Forum

Posted in News, Rumor by Omar C. Published May 12th, 2009

A poster on a forum found on the Chinese website WeiPhone.com, has supposedly gotten their hands on the new iPhone and taken this screen shot.

Notice the new iPhone model number “MB717LL”. Supposedly the new iPhone will see some nice added improvements:

- 600MHz CPU Speed (up from 400MHz)
- 256MB RAM (up from 128MB)
- Digital Compass and FM
- 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus
- 32GB size
- No major changes in battery, screen and external casing.

Hopefully they’re not correct on the battery information. Like most rumors, take this one with a grain of salt. It is completely feasible that all these improvements could be coming on the new iPhone, but seeing how this information is from a forum and not a site with a proven track record, I wouldn’t keep your hopes up. Only a few more weeks until WWDC, time will tell.

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros: Low cost, extremely addicting, brain stimulating, and high replay value.
Cons:
“Soothing” music gets old after a while.
Overall: This game is an extraordinary brain game that works very well with touch controls. It’s not the most complex game in the world but it does challenge the user. And hey, it’s only $.99 so everyone can afford this amazing brain game.

Game Review: Sticky Licky

Sticky Licky is a very funny game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. You play the game as a little frog and you have to eat as many bugs as you can. Some will give you points and some may sting you and take your life away.

Rating: 9.5 out of 10
Pros: Great graphics, GAME PLAY, GAME PLAY, GAME PLAY
Cons: The sound affects get a bit annoying after a while
Overall: Great game that will suck you in like a black hole. Worth buying in my opinion :)

Go get Sticky Licky from App Store now for $1.99.

Mac Monday Review: Speck CorePack Messenger Bag

Posted in Bag, Mac Monday, Reviews, Video by Omar C. Published May 11th, 2009

Rating: 8 out of 10
Pros: Tons of pockets, including a innovative MP3 player pocket and a laptop pocket.
Cons: The fabric outer shell collects dust and lint easily and doesn’t seem super durable.
Overall: This is a really nice bag that Speck has put out. It has all the pockets you’ll need for holding your school work or office files. Even though the fabric doesn’t seem like it would hold up to a lot of abuse, I think the average consumer wouldn’t have any issues or need to worry about it.

This product can be purchsed from Speck for $89.95.
