Video Review: Shinnorie Leather Flip Case

Pros: Screen protection, comes with wrist and neck strap, also includes a screen cleaning cloth and screen protector.
Cons: The flap on the case is a little flimsy and floppy.
Overall: For $55, you can completely customize this case head to toe. In my opinion, I think the price is on point and well worth it and you even get free shipping worldwide. I would recommend this case to others and I think it would last you a long time.

This case can be purchased directly from Shinnorie’s website at $54.95

Thanks & Something Special at The End

Pros: Very nice high quality and nice looking faux-leather case/sleeve for reasonable price. Very precise and great looking stitching in conjunction of a nice white stripe in the middle, makes it look more exclusive & executive.
Cons: No pockets for additional accessories. Manufacturer calls it a case, I say it’s a sleeve.
Overall: If you are looking for an affordable high quality and perfectly fitting sleeve for your 13″ MacBook/MacBook PRO, this is an obvious choice.

The Perfora Netbook Case offers robust protection and a sharp, stylish finish. The handcrafted faux-leather exterior guards against everyday damage, scratches and knocks, and the contrast stripe and perforation detail design means that it cuts quite a dash in the process, whilst inside the luxury lining will cocoon your Netbook in the finest style and safety. The Perfora Netbook Case is available in black and is suitable for your MacBook or any Netbook with a 13″ screen.

Mac Monday: Mozy Online Backup software

Posted in Mac Monday, Reviews, Software, Video by Tom Moccia. Published June 22nd, 2009

Rating: 7 out of 10
Pros: Offsite backup that works for both Mac and PC, relatively inexpensive at $4.95 a month.  The one year subscription comes with a free month and the 2 year subscription adds 3 months free.  Easy to use and automatic backup that runs in the background.
Cons: Must choose complete folders to backup instead of individual files.  For example you either back up ALL your movies or none of your movies.  I would like to back up some movies but not all of them.  No way to pause a backup for say 24 hours you either let it run or stop it and then you need to restart backup manually.
Overall: If you are looking for an affordable offsite/online backup service, Mozy could be the one for you.  Customer service is fantastic and they are constantly checking your satisfaction via email.  Chat and phone support is an extra added bonus. For business users of the iPhone, the added bonus of being able to backup your work & monitor your work with an online CRM can increase overall efficiency.

Launch Day Activation Delays

Posted in News by Tom Moccia. Published June 21st, 2009

AT&T logoThis years launch day was definitely smoother than the previous years mostly due to the availability of pre ordering your iPhone 3GS and activating it at home. The lines were smaller and although people were still fired up it was a bit more subdued. All this being said AT&T was not sparred the little bit of controversy due to what is being called “Activation Delays”. A number of iPhone 3GS customers reported activation delays after they connected to iTunes and went through the activation process and according to a message received during that process “…it could take up to 48 hours to resolve your issue”

To give you some first experience I spent the night of June 18th in San Francisco handing out t-shirts all night. I arrived home at 11 am Friday morning and ironically the UPS man had just dropped off my iPhone 3GS. I was so tired from pulling 36 hours with no sleep I just hit the sack and decided I would activate my new baby when I woke up. So here we are at 5 pm pacific time and ready to get it going. iTunes procedure went smooth but then the home screen said “waiting for activation”. I waited 45 minutes before calling AT&T and they advised me that they were having those issues and would not confirm an activation time. I waited an additional 2 hours and still nothing. I decided to take out the SIM card and re-insert it. BINGO!!!! Activated.

So a minor glitch from AT&T. It would have been nice for AT&T to let us know before activating the new unit so we could decide to activate it later and not be without service for 2-48 hours as they claimed it would take, but all in all not bad considering last years nightmare.

My new baby is activated and time to try out the new features so keep coming back to the site often as I am sure we will uncover all sorts of tips and tricks that haven’t been talked about yet.
