Pros: Very interesting design, will charge a plethora of mobile gadgets, additional flashlight feature, will bring nearly dead iPhones back to full throttle.
Cons: It does not connect to the bottom of the iPhone which is to be expected with a more universal unit. A bit bulky.
Overall: This is a quality product from a company that specializes in power. It will charge many different cells phones and gadgets.  The price is also right: you can find this unit all over the internet from $33 to $50 so make sure you do your homework to get the best price.

Major Details on the iPhone 3GS!!! Awesome!

Posted in News by Tom Moccia. Published June 8th, 2009

picture-5Ok everyone so most of the rumors are true, the new iPhone 3GS will be available on June 19th!!!   What!!! June 19th? Yes June 19th less than 2 weeks from now.  As Twitter so rudely interrupted our Tweets from WWDC we will now fill you in on the major changes.

First all the bogus photos of a new design were just that BOGUS.  But don’t fret there is plenty under the hood to get your blood boiling.

The biggest additions in my mind are the addition of Video recording, editing and  uploading to YouTube or MobileMe on the fly or emailing it to friends.  That is just awesome.  Staying in that arena the iPhone 3GS will also implement a 3.2 MP auto focus camera. Oh and not that this is important to anybody, BETTER BATTERY LIFE!! Hallelujah!!!

Next: Voice command.  Not just voice dial but voice command in all iPhone applications.  You can use the same feature to play your songs via the iPod.  The iPhone will even tell you what’s playing now by asking “What’s playing now?” and then you can tell your iPod to play more songs like this and it will create a Genius Playlist.  AWESOME!!!

Now we all knew about the integrated digital compass but wait it goes farther.  With integrated turn by turn directions the compass will orient the map application to the direction you are traveling.  In  the current iPhone the map is always oriented due north.

Now how much will all this cool stuff cost us?  Well the iPhone 3GS will be available in white or black and 16GB or 32GB.  16Gb will be $199 and 32GB $299.  The caveat here is if you are not eligible for an upgrade and most iPhones on June 19th will not be there will be a $200 premium upgrade fee.  I believe this is to ease demand the 1st few weeks since most current 2G iPhone owners will wait the few weeks until their contracts are up.

As of today the iPhone 3G will be priced at $99.

So that’s the gist of it guys.  For more information view the iPhone 3GS guided tour on the Apple website.

Video Review: Incipio Tonic USB Wall Charger

Posted in Misc, Reviews, Video by Tom Moccia. Published June 7th, 2009

Rating: 6 out of 10
Pros: Very compact design, very versatile: as long as 1 side of your cable is USB you can charge practically anything.
Cons: Would like to see some way to manage the cap when in use: maybe a tether or something similar.  This would avoid the cap being lost or as the 3 women in my house called it “misplaced”.  Would also prefer if there was some cable management system for the included cable.  Right now you have to lug it around desperately.
Overall: This product does what it is supposed to do but for a price tag of $29.99 I would expect a better management system for the cap and the wire.  Unless your using it for multiple devices quite frankly I would rather spend the $29 and get an Apple wall charger.

The Tonic Universal USB Wall Charger can be purchased directly from Incipio for $29.99 by clicking here.

Video Review: Macally mCase

Rating: 7 out of 10
Pros: The fully open front face ensures access to the iPhone’s touch screen and provides protection by having the screen recessed a bit within the body of the case. The large cut out on the bottom of the case provides access to the iPhone’s ports. Protects your iPhone from bumps and scratches
Cons: After some time the bottom part starts to bend. Docking feature leaves you with covered screen and home button. Cheap screen protector included.
Overall: This is a simple, sleek but protective case for your phone.

You can be purchased directly through Macally for $19.99

Is this the new iPhone?

Posted in News, Rumor by Danny Smallman. Published June 6th, 2009

So, obviously there are loads of fake images going around, but I felt this was the most convincing I have seen. Most of the others all have a little green light for the front camera, but I’d only expect this to be on when the camera is actually in use. Anyway, this image ticks all the boxes for the rumors: matte back, front camera, black bezel, raised earpiece. What do you guys think. Fake or Real?

What do you want from the new iPhone?

Posted in News by Danny Smallman. Published June 5th, 2009

So, the new iPhone is most likely being announced on Monday. If you could have 5 things included (hardware related), what would they be and why? Obviously, things such as Copy And Paste and Video recording are all software extras, and as we know, they are already included in the 3.0 software. So what’s on your top 5 iPhone Hardware wish-list? Mine are after the break
