Apple Announces September 9th Event.

Posted in News by Danny Smallman. Published August 31st, 2009

Apple has begun sending out invitations to different media outlets inviting them to their September event. Apple has chosen “It’s only rock and roll, but we like it,” a take on the Rolling Stones song “It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll (But I Like It),” as the tag line for the event.

Apple is expected by most to unveil the new line of iPods, as has been the case in the last few years in September. The event is set to take place on September 9th, as previously rumored in the last few weeks. The event is taking place at 10:00 AM Pacific Time at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. Be sure to check BMAi for a comprehensive round up of the new releases and announcements.

Pros: Lots of features, maps, and game play options. Very entertaining and fun.
Cons: At $2.99 cost is a bit steep.
Overall: This game is definitely worth checking out. Although the cost is a little pricey you’ll find it very fun and hard to put down.

You can purchase this game from the App Store here.

Video Review: Colcasac Sleeve & iPhone Pouch

Posted in Cases, Mac Monday, Reviews, Sleeves, Video by Tom Moccia. Published August 31st, 2009

Rating: 8 out of 10
Pros: Made of hemp, seems anything made of hemp is cool, super soft interior, reasonably priced, nice pocket for power cord.
Cons: The corners of my Macbook were slightly exposed, it’s just a little snug with the plastic Macbook.
Overall: Colcasac does a great job of making a cool looking laptop sleeve that is nice and soft. It gives you a sense of individuality from the typical neoprene cases on the market. What’s even more cool is how they run their company, think Silicone Valley in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Not only are employees encouraged to work hard but also encouraged to play hard and travel the world.

You can purchase the Colcasac Macbook sleeve for $33 and the iPhone pouch for $9.99 (yes I said it, less than ten bucks).  Click here to visit the Colcasac website.

Free App: Asteroid BBQ

Posted in Apps, News, iDeal by Ryan W.. Published August 27th, 2009

Every once in awhile a $.99 app goes on sale and is offered for free. Today I found one of those apps which I think everyone will like. Check it out.

Fire up the afterburners and soar into space to battle an onslaught of asteroids spawned from menacing portals. Use your cunning skills to dodge and destroy asteroids and deadly mines that track your every movement. Protect mankind from a threat that could be more then just a cosmic eruption!

- Incredibly smooth game play at 60 frames per second, built on a custom graphics engine.
- Choose from virtual analog or tilt control modes
- Spend more time playing and less time loading: game launches almost immediately and uses little memory

Video App Review: Vector Tanks

Rating: 8 out of 10
Pros: Good replay value, nostalgic arcade game style
Cons: A bit pricey at $2.99 for the average game app.
Overall: This game was pretty fun and I think most people will enjoy it. Especially if you grew up playing these kind of arcade games when you were younger. I think $.99 or $1.99 would be a better price point, or at least a Free lite version so you could test it out. You’ll either enjoy the style of controls on this game or it’ll really frustrate you.

You can purchase this game from the App Store here.
