Video Review: JayBird Endorphin Rush earphones

Posted in Earphones, Reviews, Video by Omar C. Published September 21st, 2009

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros: Comes with hard pouch. 60-day guarantee. Lots of ear tips to choose from.
Cons: May be a bit pricey for some, especially since it doesn’t include a mic. You can only wear them over the ear. No recessed plug for 1st generation iPhone owners.
Overall: The Endorphin Rush is a great set of earphones for the active enthusiast. They even offer a guarantee against sweat damage. The sound quality was awesome with nice deep bass and adequate highs and lows; perfect for listening to upbeat music while you work out. I really like the “hockey puck” sized hard pouch that is included as well. I know $99 might seem like a lot of money for earphones, but considering the quality of the product it self and the sound quality, I’d recommend them. In fact I’m going to award them our Editors’ Choice award.

You can purchase the Endorphin Rush at JayBird’s website for $99.

New Mystery Bluetooth Earphones coming soon

Posted in Bluetooth, Earphones, News by Omar C. Published September 21st, 2009

photoWe just received a tip about some brand new stereo bluetooth headphones that are going to be released in October from a mystery company. There’s a teaser site that has be published called BudsGoBlue.com which shows an image of the earphones and which look really nice and super small compared to other bluetooth earphones currently available. So far this is what we know:

  • Product is just one inch in size
  • Obviously has button controls so full music, call and volume controls
  • They have “memory shaping” ear loops which are completely flexible, they shape perfectly to any ear
  • It includes voice command. So iPhone 3GS users will have a way to access track controls.

These Bluetooth headphones may be the ultimate bluetooth headphones for the iPhone and exactly what everyone’s been waiting for. We’ll let you know when we’re told who the manufacturer is, but for now, it’s a secret. We’re told it’s one of the major bluetooth headphone brands … someone like Sony, Motorola, JayBird, Altec Lancing or Ultimate Ears. Keep an eye on our site for more breaking news and inside information on these cool new bluetooth headphones.

Video App Review: iGo My Way iPhone GPS

Posted in Apps, Reviews, Vehicle Accessory, Video by Tom Moccia. Published September 21st, 2009

Rating: 7 out of 10
Pros: Very easy to use interface, choose your vehicle, uncluttered navigation screen, reasonably reliable, non technical people will be comfortable using this as there are not a ton of options to confuse them.
Cons: Hangs when you try to re-enter app while on a phone call, when on Highway sometimes thinks you are on parallel surface streets, pricey compared to other navigational apps and what you get.
Overall: The iGo My Way app has a strong start in the GPS app world.  It did get me from point “A” to point “B” but I do think it needs some refinements in the next update most notably the incoming phone call issue when you attempt to re-enter app and continue to navigate.  Accuracy was right on in both the city of San Francisco as well as the vineyards of the Central Valley within about 10-20 yards.

You can purchase the North American version for $79.99 by clicking here or visit the iGo My Way website for more information by clicking here.

Video App Review: Skeleton Key

Posted in Apps, Apps, Game, Reviews, Video by Pashyn. Published September 19th, 2009

Rating: 8 out of 10
Pros: Challenging game play, lots of levels, ability to resume play.
Cons: Same backdrop for each maze every time just different obstacles. It could really use scene changes.
Overall: Skeleton Key is addicting and challenging. Its 100 levels (although all similar backdrops) and is sure to keep you puzzled for quite some time.

You can purchase this app in the App Store for $.99

Video Review: Speck Candyshell Edition II

Posted in Cases, Editors' Choice, Reviews, Video by Tom Moccia. Published September 17th, 2009

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros: Hard outer shell soft inside for great protection, screen shield is included, multiple colors, nice lay on the table design.
Cons: A little tricky to remove phone, bezel is not protected, at the higher end price point wise.
Overall: The Speck Candyshell has quickly become my case of choice with its durability and extraordinary protection for my iPhone.  If you drop your phone with this case the hard outer shell will take the brunt of the force while the soft inner shell babies your phone. The nice thing about the Candyshell is that there are no tabs that will break and the case won’t be destroyed with one drop.  I do like the contrasting of the previous versions of the Candyshell but with that said it still receives my Editors Choice Award.

Check out Specks products by clicking here to be directed to their website.  The Candyshell retails for $34.95 but savvy shoppers can come across a coupon code every now and then.

App Review: Arctic Shuffle 2

Posted in Apps, Apps, Game, Reviews, Video by Pashyn. Published September 16th, 2009

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros: Cute original graphics, addictive game play, high replay value, in-app purchase feature, & a free lite version.
Cons: Music is way too repetitive
Overall: Although the music can get a bit annoying listening to the same tune over and over again, its not enough to take away from an enjoyable gaming experience. Arctic Shuffle 2 is a great app for anyone wanting a game they can spend hours trying to conquer, or just a quick distraction.

You can purchase this app in the App Store for $1.99

Video Review: Macessity Slimkey V2

Posted in Mac Monday, Misc, Reviews, Video by Tom Moccia. Published September 15th, 2009

Rating: 8 out of 10
Pros: Frees up valuable real estate on your desk, nice built in powered USB hub expands USB connectivity as well as eliminating the need to reach behind your computer, raises computer to a more comfortable eye level. Solid metal construction.
Cons: A bit on the pricey side at $64.99
Overall: The Macessity Slimkey V2 solves a problem for me and that’s what we want out of our accessories.  Not only does it free up some room on my desk it expands my USB connectivity and I can connect and disconnect devices more comfortably.  Now it is a bit expensive but the looks and functionality really make up for that.

You can purchase the Macessity Slimkey V2 from their website for $64.99 by clicking here and be sure to check out their other cool and useful accessories.

Posted in Cases, Reviews, Video by Omar C. Published September 14th, 2009

Rating: 8 out of 10
Pros: Very nice quality leather and inexpensive price tag. Comes with headphones tie wrap.
Cons: Would have preferred a removable belt clip.
Overall: I was really impressed with the Sedo Trexta case. This case could easily be priced at $50 but being that it’s only $35, I would definitely recommend it to those of you looking for a nice leather case.

You can purchase this case through MyGearStore.com for $34.95, and if you use our promo code BuyMeAniPhone, you can receive 10% off your order.
