Video App Review: ESPN Radio

Posted in Apps, Apps, Reviews, Video by Tom Moccia. Published October 12th, 2009

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros: Listen to streaming national and select local ESPN Radio broadcasts over wifi or 3G networks. Text station directly from the application for free, listen to ESPN Podcasts as well as Sportcenter updates every 20 minutes.
Cons: Alternative programming will be provided on local ESPN affiliates during the NFL games due to contractual obligations to Sirius radio.
Overall: At $2.99 this app really delivers, I can listen to the national ESPN Radio Broadcast or select local ESPN radio feeds without being tied to a satellite radio in the office or car.  With the ability to listen to my favorite ESPN Radio Podcasts directly from the app and text the station I am listening to for free this app is definitely a winner.  With all that this app offers $2.99 is a steal and every sports fan should be downloading this app right now.

You can purchase the ESPN Radio App directly from the App store for $2.99 by clicking here.

Video Review: Case-Mate Smooth

Posted in Cases, Reviews, Video by Pashyn. Published October 12th, 2009

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros: Offers great protection yet doesn’t add too much bulk. Has a nice smooth texture which feels great in your hand. Well made cut outs for easy access to all buttons and ports. Comes in a variety of color options and also comes with a screen protection kit!
Cons: Its smooth soft touch matte finish does attract a bit of dust, and be aware of the sharp bottom piece.
Overall: The Case Mate Smooth is a very well made case. It doesn’t bubble up any screen protectors, and it has an overall great look to it. With its only flaws being the fact that it attracts a bit of dust, its easy to say its one of the best slider cases on the market.

The Case-Mate smooth case can be purchased directly from their website for $29.99 by clicking here.

iPhone OS 3.1.2 released today! Nothing special.

Posted in News by Omar C. Published October 8th, 2009

Apple has released iPhone OS 3.1.2. I fixes some of the problems people were having with their iPhones like waking from sleep, network service disruption, and crashing during video streaming. You should be able to install the update now with your copy of iTunes. Keep in mind, if your iPhone is jailbroken, hold off on updating until the Dev team gives us the go ahead. Here is what the update contains:

- Resolves sporadic issue that may cause iPhone to not wake from sleep
- Resolves intermittent issue that may interrupt cellular network services until restart
- Fixes bug that could cause occasional crash during video streaming

The update is compatible with all iPhone models and the iPod Touch and weighs in at approximately 240 MB.

Video App Review: Memory Mania

Posted in Apps, Apps, Game, Reviews, Video by Omar C. Published October 8th, 2009

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros: Great graphics and sound affects. There’s also a FREE lite version.
Cons: My kids love it so much that they’re always taking my iPhone away from me to play it.
Overall: I must have said it a million times during this review, my kids love this game. This game is the perfect distraction for a 4 and 3 year old. I think that some adults might get a kick out of it as well, but it’ll be short lived for the grown-ups. I definitely won’t be able to delete this off my iPhone anytime soon, or else I’ll have a toddler uprising on my hands.

You can purchase this game from the App Store for $1.99. There’s also a Free lite version.

Review: Kensington Slimblade Media Mouse

Posted in Editors' Choice, Reviews, Video, mouse by Pashyn. Published October 8th, 2009

Rating: 10 out of 10
Pros: Its slim, feels great in the hand, & has an awesome sleek design. The USB receiver is small and I love the feature of having a dedicated storage area. The entire mouse including the media navigation pad located underneath the mouse is highly responsive, and can also work from up to 30ft away.
Cons: The USB receiver could have been a little smaller and its glossy finish attracts finger prints.
Overall: Overall the Media Mouse has replaced both my Apple remote and mouse. Having that all-in-one feature is a huge plus. I definitely recommend this mouse to anyone looking for a slim mouse that “wont quit when its time to play”.

You can purchase this product directly from Kensington for $49.99.

Video Review: Radtech ScreenSavrz

Posted in Mac Monday, Misc, Reviews, Video by Tom Moccia. Published October 7th, 2009

Rating: 8 out of 10
Pros: Not only covers the keyboard but also covers the wrist-rest  and track pad to keep the entire screen from getting oily.
Cons: A bit on the pricey side starting at $12.95
Overall: I like how it protects the entire screen unlike others that only cover the keyboard.  Cleaning ability is above average and does not leave as many streaks as some other optical cleaning cloths.  This optical cloth from Radtech also comes in many different colors to fit your personality as opposed to the standard blue, gray, or black.

iPhone Expose Concept

Posted in News by Ryan W.. Published October 7th, 2009

If you have a Mac you already know about Expose. For those of you who use a PC, it’s like the switch between windows hotlink in your Vista task bar. Allowing you to see all windows at the press of a button. Ocean Observations, a Swiss design company, has put together a concept video of what it might look like on the iPhone. To state it plainly, I want it.
