App Review: Save Benjis+

Posted in Apps, Apps, Reviews, Video by Tom Moccia. Published November 30th, 2009

Rating: 8 out of 10
Pros: very easy to use, extremely accurate during my tests, can email purchase link or buy from within safari application, saved me $8 while shopping one day.
Cons: photo based scanner as opposed to red laser scanner [Update: implements laser scan reading]
Overall: Save Benjis+ has really taken the original Save Benjis application to  the next level.  With the ability to search by manually entering UPC code, item, manufacturer, keyword or scanning a photo of the bar code this application gives you plenty of options to find your item and save money.  If you find your item at a favorable price you can either email yourself the link for purchase later or you can go directly to that website via internal link to purchase the item directly from your iPhone.  With the holidays upon us and people trying to save a few bucks now a days, this app is a must have for your iPhone.  At $1.99 you will likely save the cost of the app the first time you use it.

Save Benjis+ can be purchased from the iTunes App store for $1.99, click here to be brought directly to their iTunes page.

Video Review: IPEVO P2V Webcam/Pencam

Posted in Misc, Reviews, Video by Nick. Published November 30th, 2009

Rating: 7 out of 10
Pros: Great up close macro shots when using stand, decent video quality when using VGA or  lower resolution, well built stand
Cons: Post photo editing not available in P2V software, no built in microphone
Overall: This is a great solution if you’re needing a camera for up close photos, if you’re looking for a webcam there are definitely better solutions that offer a built in microphone, for a cheaper price.

You can purchase this product directly from IPEVO’s website.

Video Review: PowerMat Portable Charging Mat

Posted in Misc, Reviews, Video by Mark Kennedy. Published November 30th, 2009

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros:
Great concept, wireless charging is very fast
Cons: Each Power receiver is sold for each additional item
Overall: A very nice wireless charger that allows you to charge up too three devices with only one plug. This product works great and i even found it to charge my devices faster then the regular wall charger this wireless charging solution would be perfect if it came with three universal receivers.

PowerMat Portable can be purchased at the Powermat for $ 99.99.

Video Review: Myvu Crystal personal viewers

Posted in Misc, Reviews, Video by Omar C. Published November 26th, 2009

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros: Long lasting battery life
Cons: They have some weight to them, and they easily slip off my face if I lower my head
Overall: This is a really cool product from Myvu. If you are a commuter or travel a lot on planes, then I think you’re definitely going to enjoy using the Crystals. I’m surprised that they’ll last 4 whole hours on one charge, lets just hope your iPhone will last that long as well. The sound quality on the built-in earphones was excellent. I did notice that the video quality on some of my videos were a little over saturated in color. This may depend on your videos file formats and other factors, but either was it wasn’t a deal breaker. I think having the ability to enjoy your videos in private makes this product worth while.

You can purchase this product from Myvu.com for $179
Note: There is a newer version of this product, the Crystal EV, which retails for $299.

Video Review: SGP Neo Hybrid case

Posted in Cases, Reviews, Video by Tom Moccia. Published November 25th, 2009

Rating: 4 out of 10
Pros: Looks really good, includes 2 Stienheil screen shields, anti-fingerprint as well as a new optical enhancement.  Can buy separate frames for $4.99 to add some variety.  Good scratch protection and the frame does cover the chrome bezel.
Cons: Design to secure the case on the phone is very flimsy and when dropped on carpet from 3 feet it started to come apart so I would hate to see what would happen if I dropped it on concrete or other hard surfaces.
Overall: The Neo Hybrid has some very good looks and I was excited to try this case out.  After using it for a week I found that the design and execution was suspect and really not designed for drop protection.  On the other hand if you are simply looking for a case to protect against abrasion and scratches this case does the job.  I did like the fact that 2 Steinheil Screen Shields were included (a $11.99 value).  When it comes down to it I just can’t recommend this case and I hope that SGP looks at redesigning it because I really think it has some potential.  Just a side note, I have been very happy with the other products from SGP so this case is by no means a poor reflection on their other products.

You can purchse the SGP Neo Hybrid directly from their online store for $26.99 by clicking here.

Video Review: SGP Ultra Thin case

Posted in Cases, Reviews, Video by Ryan W.. Published November 24th, 2009

Rating: 8 out of 10
Pros: Extremely thin case. Provides complete protection to the back housing of the phone.
Cons: Some might not like that the chrome bezel is exposed.
Overall: A nice case with a few really great accessories. The addition of the two separate screen protectors and the logo shield make this case a great buy. Also with so many designs to choose from, it distinguishes itself from the competition.

The SGP Ultra Thin case can be purchased from WirelessRage.com. Prices range from $19.99 to $24.99
