Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros: The material used in the case has to be one of the most original ideas ever for a case. The workmanship in the design is spectacular.
Cons: It would have been perfect if the interior was also leather.
Overall: A perfectly designed case. It stands out from other more expensive cases by offering more features and protection than others.

Video Review: Mobile Spark External Battery

Posted in External Battery, Reviews, Video by Tom Moccia. Published November 23rd, 2009

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros: The power just goes on and on and on and on.  I could not get it to die. Reasonable price and free shipping. Includes many adapters to power all your gadgets and there will be a Motorola Droid adapter soon.
Cons: It is not a case style battery so you have to kind of hold it while it is charging.  The glossy finish is a fingerprint magnet.
Overall: The Mobile Spark External backup battery is one of the longest lasting external battery that I have tested to date.  On one charge we power from totally dead mind you, 2 iPhones, 3 iPod Touches, 1 Nintendo DSi and then we played a dead DSi for about a half hour before this thing died.  A few things I would like to see be implemented is a carrying case and some sort of automatic shutoff if the unit is not being utilized for more than say 10 minutes.

You can purchase the Mobile Spark from Amazon for $57.75 and free shipping. Click here to see check it out.

Unlimited Isn’t Unlimited

Posted in News by Ryan W.. Published November 23rd, 2009

orangeUk carrier Orange recently had a buzz among them, and not the good kind. In their new iPhone Data plans just announced. orange made it know that their Unlimited plans had a cap of 750mb. The unhappy people planning on jumping to Orange, weren’t too happy about that and began to voice their opinions on Twitter about the supposed cap. But Orange was quick to respond and say:

We don’t call it a cap. We don’t restrict the service, and we don’t charge them any more if they go over 750MB. It’s just an indication of where we’d prefer people to be

Orange offers the iPhone in 28 other countries, and in research they found that the average iPhone user uses 200mb a month. So to them, 750mb is more than enough. But Orange promises that they will not charge extra for users who go over 750mb. If a person goes over, Orange will just send text messages saying you’re using more data than they should be. Hmm, I wonder how that’s going to work out.

Video Review: Otterbox Commuter TL case

Posted in Cases, Reviews, Video by Omar C. Published November 23rd, 2009

Rating: 10 out of 10
Pros: Great drop protection, headphone jack and connector port cover, includes screen protector and cleaning cloth
Cons: Otterbox should have created them sooner
Overall: I love this case. Otterbox has a hit a home run with the Commuter TL case. It’s the perfect blend of silicon and plastic to create a shock absorbing case that won’t stick in your pocket. At the current price of $30, it’s a steal.

You can purchase this case directly from Otterbox for $30.

Video Review: Incase Frame Case

Posted in Cases, Reviews, Video by Nick. Published November 19th, 2009

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros: Great drop protection, looks awesome. Buttons are easy to access
Cons: No accessories for $30
Overall: A great case, if you can get past the $30 price tag w/o getting any accessories. The frame case offers great drop protection with it’s hard back shell, but still is slim due to it’s soft sides.

Proporta debuts new germ fighting silicone case

Posted in News by Omar C. Published November 19th, 2009

Protect your iPhone, and yourself with Proporta

It’s an alarming, but not entirely surprising fact that the filthiest things we encounter on a regular basis are computer keyboards and our mobile phones.  In fact, the average mobile phone has 25,127 germs per square inch, while the average toilet seat has just 49.  Which is pretty horrifying if you stop to think about it.

So to help protect you against these lurking nasties, Proporta has developed the Antimicrobial Silicone Case with SteriTouch (Apple iPhone 3G/3GS).  Crafted from a super tough silicone skin that guards against scratching and impact damage, the case is covered with an antimicrobial coating to protect against germs and bacteria.  Available in black and grey, this stylish and lightweight case doesn’t just look after your iPhone – it looks after you into the bargain.

Mac and iPhone Jewelry

Posted in News by Ryan W.. Published November 19th, 2009

Yes I WILL be buying these for my wife. No this is what you call cornering the market. I can truly say I have never seen someone use the parts to wither a Mac or an iPhone to make jewelry, but that’s exactly what the folks over at PowerbookMedic.com did. Powerbookmedic provides repair service for most Macs, iPods and iPhones. So expanding into the jewelry market was a stretch. As of right now the only items they sell are earrings made from power buttons of Macs and the home button of the iPhone/iPod. I really don’t see why they couldn’t expand to making cuff-links. If they do, I know I’ll be getting them.

More images after the break.
