Shazam Entertainment recently announced a new application now available in the App Store. Technically it’s not a new app, but more of a method to actually make money off of the current app. For those of you living under a rock, Shazam provides music tagging with the use of the microphone on the iPhone. The previously free version provided unlimited tagging, and the ability to posts tags on Twitter and Facebook. With the new paid version, you get that same goodness as above, but with quicker tagging speeds along, the ability to search, and a top ten tagged songs buy users. The new free version will no longer provide unlimited tagging. It will now only allow 5 tagged songs per month. Yeah very lame. For those of you with the current version, Shazam says that when you update you will continue to have the unlimited tags. Just prepare for reduced speeds in tagging sounds. Preference will be given to the paying users, in the bandwidth department. So get ready to pony up $4.99, Shazam Encore is available now in the App Store.

Pros: Comes with screen protector and cleaning cloth. Completely customizable.
Cons: Since the flap is attached on the bottom of the case, you won’t be able to sync or charge your iPhone while the case it closed. I wish there was an option for a belt clip.
Overall: Shinnorie does a great job on all their cases and the new Leather flipcase is no exception to that. The quality of the case is excellent and I think this case would last you a long time. I do wish that they came with a belt clip instead of just wrist wraps and lanyards, but that’s more of a personal request.
You can customize and purchase this case from Shinnorie for $69.95

Pros: Cute & lively design, has that marshmallow/matte texture that everyone loves. Lightweight and bulk free. Complete access to all buttons, ports and of course the camera lense. Comes with extras! Has a slight lay-on-the-table design, and provides a fair amount of protect in areas covered.
Cons: Due to the soft colors used in the design and the texture of the case, it could be prone to picking up lint and dirt. Also the price is a bit high compared to other similar styled cases.
Overall: I found the case be very attractive, it has a great design. The cost is high but it is a limited edition and it includes a couple of extras like the screen film and stand so maybe in your book it is justified.
You can purchase the Limited Edition Clouds Case case from Agent18 for $29.95

One thing I find myself doing is searching the net for new applications. Personally iTunes and the new update has made it almost impossible to browse for new apps. In my search of the web I stumbled upon firstand20. It’s a site that displays the iPhone home screen of Developers, Tech Writers and Bloggers. I think it’s a pretty interesting way of showing off what some pretty influential people in the scene have on their iPhones. On the home page you will see a scoreboard of the applications that are on the most home screens on the site. Hey maybe you can find a new and interesting app. That’s were I found Instapaper, and I now use it everyday. Stay tuned, I plan on getting all the BuyMeAniPhone writers together and doing our own home page display.

Taking a look in the App Store you will no doubt see a few different turn-by-turn GPS apps. Well not to be outdone, another popular GPS manufacturer has set its sights on the iPhone platform and released their own GPS application. Magellan released their RoadMate application on Saturday in the Apple App Store. So what makes this app different from the rest of the bunch. Magellan offers out of the box Text to Speech, Lane Guidance and a new ‘One Touch’ feature. Magellan is also releasing a dock similar to the TomTom car kit. Unlike TomTom, the Magellan dock will be compatible with the iPhone 3G, 3Gs and the iPod Touch Second Generation. The car kit will also allow the use of the GPS enhancement module with other GPS applications for the device. The app is available for a limited time of $79.99. Compared to the other big names that’s a steal. However no price has been named for after the introductory offer. Also there is no price point set for the car kit system. More details and pictures after the jump.

Pros: 2 USB ports for charging 2 devices at once, comes with iPod/iPhone connector.
Cons: It’s a bit large and may stick out too much for some vehicles.
Overall: I really liked this product and it definitely is the best solution for those that travel a lot or for those that always need to have a Car and Wall charger with them.
You can purchase this product directly from Contour for $39.95

Pros: Charges, docks and syncs all in one unit, amplifies audio by 10 decibels, can utilize landscape mode.
Cons: Poorly weighted, iPhone sits very awkwardly, pricey for what it delivers, does not include a U.S. power adapter, will not amplify sound from iPod Touch.
Overall: I was a bit disappointed in this product because we have reviewed iKit products in the past and we were very impressed. The iKit Charger Dock & Amp is a very good concept with questionable design and implementation. When you dock your iPhone the unit is very unstable and poorly weighted. I was afraid the whole thing was going to topple over. This is a good concept but really needs a redesign. With a little more thought this could be a great product.
You can check out this product and many more products from iKit by visiting their website. The NuFlow Charger Dock & Amp retails for $40.

Pros: Fun, entertaining and a great time killer. Only 99 cents, plus there’s a FREE lite version to try out before purchase.
Cons: Since this game is so simple I can’t really point out much cons. The graphics could be improved, and online scoring should be implemented into the actually app.
Overall: I found Pong Double to be a great game for some quick time killing. Mostly vs the computer player, as I found challenging a friend can become a bit crowded, but a nice option to have.
You can purchase Pong Double for $.99 in the App Store.
