Jailbroken App Review: Snappy & SnapTap

Posted in Apps, Apps, Reviews, Video, jailbroken by Ryan W.. Published December 2nd, 2009

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros: Ridiculously easy to use. Inexpensive
Cons: Photo library load time could be quicker
Overall: Apple dropped the ball with not releasing applications such as these with the iPhone. Cutting down the opening of the camera app to a second is extremely efficient. Using the volume switch to take a photo allows you to focus on the shot and not where on the screen do you have to hold your thumb.

Both of the great add ons require a jailbroken iPhone and can be found in the Cydia Store for $1.99 and $.99.

Using a Wii controller to play games on the iPhone

Posted in Apps, Video, jailbroken by Omar C. Published December 1st, 2009

This is basically a jailbroken iPhone running some third party applications (that Apple would not be too happy about) which allows it to be controlled by a WiiMote. Here’s what the video’s author, ZodTTD, wrote in the description:

“In this video I modified my mame4iphone release (available via my Cydia “Community Source” repo) to support a WiiMote controller via BlueTooth. This was able to be done by using the BTstack daemon which is also available via Cydia.

Note that I’m using an iPhone 3gs. You will need a device that supports BlueTooth such as an iPhone or iPod Touch other than the first gen.

I decided to use the buttons on the WiiMote for the video instead of it’s accelerometer. Both are a bit tricky to control. I’m looking forward to getting the PS3 controller working with my emulator releases next.”

Jailbreaking 3.0

Posted in Video, jailbroken by Omar C. Published July 17th, 2009

This post was created by Pashyn

The iPhone Dev Team has recently released an updated version of RedSn0w (Mac & Windows compatible). The Jailbreak program now works with the iPhone 3GS, 3G, 2G, as well as the iPod Touch 2nd generation using OS 3.0.
Allegedly the Icy & Cydia troubles have been straightened out and iPhone 3GS owners should be able to unlock via Ultrasn0w after jailbreaking through RedSn0w.
Originally the iPhone Dev Team was going to hold out on providing the jailbreak until OS 3.1 was released. All in hopes of obtaining maximum users, as with the new 3.1 software update Apple would naturally patch the holes in the previous version. That strategy quickly became useless with the release of geohot’s purplera1n.

Same instructions for jailbreaking from the previous jailbreaks apply.

iSmart Dialer – new revolution for the iPhone?

Posted in Apps, News, jailbroken by Martin B. Published April 5th, 2009

iSmartDialer CydiaYour favorite dialer just got better! Now you can enjoy Search, Speed Dial and much more…

A new application called iSmart Dialer was released in 2 versions, for Cydia and for the AppStore (the first software with both versions ?) and they are far beyond any similar apps for the iPhone. With iSmart Dialer you get the familiar dialer but with new features that will just blow you away! These are some of the features:

  • • Searching for contacts using the Keypads - the fastest way to find a contact and call (or send SMS or E-mail as you soon discover).
  • • Speed Dial – Assign ‘Speed Dial-Favorites’ to keys 1-9 and you even get a nice pop-up (with the contact picture!) to “see before use”.
  • SMS / E-mail from inside the dialer – No need to get out of the dialer for sending SMS or E-mail. The keypads are flipped (very nice) and you get an SMS or E-mail template (The SMS screen even has a Characters and Messages counter).
  • Edit Contact – Again, no need to get out of the dialer screen – just press on a contact search result for 2 seconds for editing and information screen.
  • Auto-Complete – When you’re dialing a number, the dialer auto-completes the number for you from you contacts list.
  • Multi-Language support

The Cydia version adds all the new functionalities to the standard Mobile Phone, while the AppStore version also includes a complete replacement app for Mobile Phone with a new and cool design.

iSmart Dialer is available now on Cydia for 7.99 USD and FREE for a limited time on the AppStore !
