The iPhone Dev Team has recently released an updated version of RedSn0w (Mac & Windows compatible). The Jailbreak program now works with the iPhone 3GS, 3G, 2G, as well as the iPod Touch 2nd generation using OS 3.0.
Allegedly the Icy & Cydia troubles have been straightened out and iPhone 3GS owners should be able to unlock via Ultrasn0w after jailbreaking through RedSn0w.
Originally the iPhone Dev Team was going to hold out on providing the jailbreak until OS 3.1 was released. All in hopes of obtaining maximum users, as with the new 3.1 software update Apple would naturally patch the holes in the previous version. That strategy quickly became useless with the release of geohot’s purplera1n.
Same instructions for jailbreaking from the previous jailbreaks apply.
Keep reading this post for a detailed write up.

Your favorite dialer just got better! Now you can enjoy Search, Speed Dial and much more…
A new application called iSmart Dialer was released in 2 versions, for Cydia and for the AppStore (the first software with both versions ?) and they are far beyond any similar apps for the iPhone. With iSmart Dialer you get the familiar dialer but with new features that will just blow you away! These are some of the features:
The Cydia version adds all the new functionalities to the standard Mobile Phone, while the AppStore version also includes a complete replacement app for Mobile Phone with a new and cool design.

Like the title says, this review is for a jail broken application. If your phone is jail broken, continue on. If your phone isn’t jail broken, it just might be after this post. It’s a common theme that I like applications that accomplish things that Apple should have done in the first place. Multi-Photo Email comes to mind. So I know you guys remember Apple saying in the 2.0 update there was going to be push notification? What ever happened to that? Exactly. Nothing, nada, zilch. Once again, a jail broken application has stepped in and solved a problem that Apple has decided not to add. Backgrounder does exactly what it says it does. It allows certain applications to do such (run in the background). While not truly giving you push notification, it does allow updates or notifications to come through while the app is closed.
How does it do it? Opening the Backgrounder program enables it. To enable it in an application all is needed is to hold down the home button for a second or two. The above pictured message appears stating that it has been activated. In essence this keeps the application running in the background, freeing up the phone to do something else.
I cannot explain in words how much this app has helped me personally. Don’t you hate playing games and then you get a phone call, only to kick you out of your game? I do. With Backgrounder, just enable the game before you start playing. So when a call does go through, take it, then go back to the game once your done. Backgrounder also works with IM. BeeJive IM is awesome with push notifications. I know BeeJive works with push notifications through MobileMe, but what if you don’t have it. Problem solved. And the same way you enabled Backgrounder, you can deactivate it. Just hold down the home button for a few seconds and a pop up will tell you its done, and quit. Available in Cydia today! So go jailbreak your phone already, I cannot give you anymore reasons to do so… well maybe I can.
Well if you’ve been under a rock, or haven’t opend up Cydia on your iPhone or iPod Touch (I guess if you haven’t jailbroken your iPhone/iPod you wouldn’t, so it doesnt really apply anyway) you might have noticed a new application called Clippy. Created by Ryan Petrich, its adds multi-app copy & paste functionality. I installed it this morning and have been playing around with it since. There have been a few other Copy & Paste add-ons but for some reason they never seemed to win me over. They always involved way to many awkward steps in order to accomplish the goal, so I stayed away. With this app however, I saw the screenshots (below) and knew I had to give it a shot.
So after the poll, I had to take a look at BMAi, and I realized that we really don’t review a lot of jailbroken applications. The funny thing is that my iPhone is indeed pwned. So here we go, a look at a jailbroken app. If you have BossPrefs installed I urge you to immediately open up Cydia and install SBSettings. This little tool has saved me at least 3-10 seconds of productivity while using my iPhone, and that’s every few minutes. I know it might not sound like a lot, but the reason why I wanted the iPhone is because of its simple and easy to use interface. I have a MAC, and I know what that is supposed to feel like. So I want it on my phone. SBSettings is made by BigBoss, the same Dev who brought you BossPrefs. So what does the app do? Read the rest of this entry »
After a little thought I realized that we really haven’t spent any time on iPhone themes for jailbroken iPhones. So from here on out, every once in awhile I’ll be posting up some random themes that I have decided to use or that I think people would like. To me, themes separate a person’s iPhone from the crowd, and by doing these posts, hopefully we can help you accomplish that. I am currently using Gradience, made by Misecia of MacThemes2. This theme is simplistic, yet completely different from the stock iPhone theme. Complete with sliders, pop-ups, badges, and SMS bubbles. It will provide a Semi-Complete overhaul of your iPhone. Not only a great theme, but an ever changing one. Misecia has just released a new icon pack, that bumps the total amount of available icons to 500 for the theme. So rest assured, most of your apps will have a custom icon available. If not, ask politely and I’m sure you’ll be rewarded.
