G-form, a company famous for it’s protective athletic and electronics gear, and for its recent demonstration protecting an iPad from a 100,000 foot free-fall from the stratosphere, has announced availability of its first protective cases for iPhone® 4/4S. In typical G-Form fashion, the company released a demonstration video of its new iPhone® case taking some extreme punishment, this time using a G-Form protected iPhone® as a puck in a hockey rink, where it takes on the dramatic forces of a full out slapshot.
Rating: 8 of 10
Pros: Good color options to choose from, extremely stylish, well built and designed
Cons: Little drop protection, expensive
Overall: The SGP Neo Hybrid takes a unique approach on hybrid cases, comprised of a high-quality silicone layer which is wrapped by a polycarbonate ‘bumper’. Fit and finish on this product is terrific, cutouts are spot on and once installed, the case feels solid like a brick. Unfortunately, the thin profile means you won’t get much protection from this one.
You can pick this case up on the SGP website
Rating: 7/10
Pros: offers great protection, stylish, unique hybrid design
Cons: no cutout for noise cancellation microphone, 3.5mm headphone jack is small and recessed, thick/bulky
Overall: The Case-Mate Pop is a revamp of the original case that has been made to fit Galaxy Nexus specifications. A hybrid style case, it offers good protection through the silicone layer and snug fit. It is however a thick case due to the materials used, some of the cutouts are missing or not aligned well, but the case is good nonetheless.
Apple is fairly quick about pulling these types of apps. So if you’re interested in tethering your phone, without paying your carrier’s fees, you should pony up the $1.99 for this app. As shown in the video above, getting tethering to work isn’t the most straight forward process but it works. If you’ve purchased this app please let us know if it works as described.

There’s a new project on Kickstarter that I thought I’d share with you called the Elevation Dock. Now before you roll your eyes and say “Oh please, another dock?”, check out the video and see for yourself what makes this dock slightly different from the others. Their Kickstarter page states the following:
If you have tried using docks for your iPhone, you have probably felt our frustration: Undocking is difficult, many aren’t designed to work with cases, they are lightweight, and are generally made as a cheap afterthought accessory.
That’s why we designed the Elevation Dock – Simple to use, quick undocking, and it works with or without a case. We didn’t stop there – It’s beautifully precision machined from solid aluminum and it comes in a gorgeous set of surface finishes, setting a new bar for quality and something that looks really good on your desk. It complements the high-level craftsmanship of the iPhone like no other.
They were only asking for $75K to get the project off the ground, but so far 7,000+ backers have pledge over $700,000 dollars towards the project, so it’s safe to say that we’ll be seeing the Elevation Dock going into production soon. If you want to pledge there’s packages from $59 which gets you your own Elevation Dock to $500 which earns you 6 different docks in a variety of colors. Hopefully we’ll be able to check out this product for a review once it’s released.

While I find it interesting that Samsung is going after Apple in their new ad campaigns, I do think they could be a tad bit more creative. One question I had after watching the video: Who uses turn by turn directions when walking? What do you think of Samsung’s new ad? Post a comment and let us know.
