With the new 2.0 firmware, the App Store has brought us new games as well as variants of old games. I know I’ve fallen in love with several games on my iPhone. Apple Insider reports that ID Software’s Carmack has compared the iPhone to handheld gaming consoles, the Nintendo DS and the PSP. ID Software is responsible for classic gaming series’ Wolfenstein and Quake. Carmack goes on to make strong statements that the iPhone is, “equivalent to that of the Sega Dreamcast…almost on par with Sony’s PlayStation 2 and Microsoft’s original Xbox” and “more powerful than a Nintendo DS and PSP combined.” With the games out now combined with the fact developers are motivated by receiving 70% of profit from their apps, how could you not see the potential in his statements becoming true? Even major games such as Spore, Doom 2, and Wolfenstein are being released for the iPhone simultaneously with the major consoles.
As I sit here at work talking to a friend about launch day eve plans, I suddenly remember seeing this lady on TV showing up at an AT&T store with less than 20 minutes before launch time of the first gen iPhone. She paid this kid $800 for his number one spot in line somewhere in Texas. She had plans of buying all of the iPhones in the store and reselling them on ebay only to find out, when she got in the store, that AT&T was enforcing a one iPhone per customer rule. To add insult to injury, the guy who received the $800 for the number one spot was still able to obtain his iPhone because he had other people in line with him that weren’t planning on buying one. I’m sure many of you have seen the news report. It was pretty much one of the funniest moments of Summer 2007 for me.
Anyway, I just wanted to see how you, our readers, felt about this. For those of you camping out the day before, if someone shows up at 7:45am offering you money for your spot in line, what would you do? Take our poll after the jump…

Following omar’s post about the black iphone, which I thought was hilarious, I was just wondering what you will call the new iPhone or what you think Apple will call the new iPhone. Will it be iPhone2, 3G iPhone or just plain iPhone. Post a comment and tell us what you think it will be.
