Video Review: Trexta Merli Case

Posted in Cases, Reviews by Emil Aquino. Published March 11th, 2010

Rating: 6 out of 10
Pros: Tackified spots on the back of the case provides extra grip and good feel in your hand.  Reasonably priced at $19.95
Cons:
Case form & shape is far from perfect.
Overall: The concept is very unique with the incorporation of the lanyard & hook.  I would have given the  Trexta Merli a higher rating if the case had a more consistent form factor.

You can purchase this case at MyGearStore.com for $19.95

Video Review: Tech21 iBand + Cases

Posted in Cases, Reviews, Video by Doug Drummond. Published March 10th, 2010

Rating: 8.5 out of 10
Pros: Awesome new technology, very shock resistant, ultra slim fit.
Cons: not much lay on the table design, entire back open to geting scratched
Overall: I love this case, very minimal design and is very shock absorbant. I’d like to see more protection on the back and a thicker front lip for lay on table. The new design with the cut outs makes this case one of my top 5 favorites right now, not much bulk and cool technology.

You can see more of this case at the tech21 website here.

Video Review: Voi Lorem case

Posted in Cases, Reviews, Video by Omar C. Published March 8th, 2010

Rating: 8 out of 10
Pros: Includes a lanyard.
Cons: Screen protector and cleaning cloth costs extra.
Overall: This is a very nice quality case. It’s stays together very securely and I think it would do a great job protecting your iPhone if you were to drop it while in this case. The price is right on point being under $30. I would definitely recommend checking it out.

You can purchase this case directly from Voi for $24.95.

iMaxi iPad Case

Posted in Cases, News, humor by Ryan W.. Published March 3rd, 2010

There are so many weird iPhone and iPod accessories it’s hard to keep count. And of course with the launch of the iPad, it could be no different. The folks over at Hip Handmaids have thrown together, and when I say thrown together I mean hand sown, a special iPad case. The iMaxi takes the iPad name and rolls with what we are were thinking when we heard the name. Here’s the description straight from the site:

With its durable vinyl outer layer and plush, quilted-cotton sleeve, the iMaxi helps keep your iPad clean and dry. Plus, the iMaxi’s Velcro-latched, advanced wing design wraps snugly around your device, so your iPad always stays where it should. Best of all, it shields it from all those unsightly and embarrassing data leaks that would make any motherboard worry!

For $30 the iMaxi is priced around similar iPad cases that will hit the market shortly. Is this a case you’d buy for your iPad? Hit the break for a few more pictures.

Video Review: Switcheasy Rebel M case

Posted in Cases, Reviews, Video by Nick. Published March 1st, 2010

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros: Great protection, tons of accessories included, feels nice in the hand
Cons: Two tones of white between the spine and the case, adds a good amount of bulk
Overall: For what you pay, you definitely get good bang for your buck, only downsides on this case is the annoying two tones of white between the spine and the silicon body. Comes with a great amount of accessories including dock adapters, dock and headphones insert protectors, and 2 screen shields.

You can purchase this case directly from Switcheasy for $27.99.

Viva Flip Hexe Case

Posted in Cases, Reviews, Video by Tom Moccia. Published February 25th, 2010

Rating: 8 out of 10
Pros:: Very soft inside on both front and back, simple classy look, elegant and stylish. Very high quality fit and finish, linen style texture with a copper type color.
Cons: Chrome Bezel still exposed.
Overall: The Viva Hexe Flip Case is a high quality case with great fit and finish.  Great screen protection and a very soft interior. The Essential Case has a great feel in the hand and is starting to convert me to a flip style case lover.  The cutouts are all spot on although the camera hole will seem a bit small at first but it does not interfere with picture taking.

This case can be purchased directly from Viva Cases for $26.90 by clicking here.  be sure to check out all their other offerings.

Posted in CES 2010, Cases, Reviews, Video by Doug Drummond. Published February 16th, 2010

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros:
Great protection, hard shell for drops and rubber inside for shock
Cons: A little work to remove the case, single piece design so you cannot dock without removing

SeeThru Satin

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros: Hard Shell, full phone protection, has see thru design for the apple logo and such
Cons:
no rubber inside, only hard plastic, moderate difficulty to remove
Overall:
Both the Candyshell and Satin are perfect cases for all around protection. The hard outer shells protect from drops and the rubberized inside protect the phone from shock. The cases just snap on and stay on. the $30 price points are perfect for dual protection cases.

You can purchase the Candyshell ($34.95) and the SeeThru ($29.95) directly from Speck Products.
