Mipow Maca & Maca Air

Rating: 8 of 10
Pros:
Great colors, record album feel on the back is great for grip, both are minimalist tic, on off button, sync and charge, affordable.
Cons: The plastic top could have been designed better.
Overall:
The Mipow Maca series is a solid battery case and served me quite well at both CES and Macworld.  With either the Air at 1200 mAh or the 2200 mAh priced at a reasonable $79 you really can’t go wrong.

Head on over to the Mipow website to check out all their products and pick up a Maca.

Inature Winter Collection Backup Battery Case

Posted in Cases, External Battery, Reviews, Video by Fabian. Published January 2nd, 2012

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros:
Offers the option to have case protection with the addition of an external battery as needed.  Also comes in different size capacities.
Cons: Wish the battery stayed on the case a little tighter and change the cutout in the case for the battery to a different spot as it is in an awkward place
Overall: Inature has recently blown us away with their Kiano Bluetooth keyboard case and has now come out with another amazing product called the Refill + case in a hot new winter collection that offers different flavors and extended battery capacities.  Their attention to detail in packaging their product has also impressed me.  Inature has combined a case with the option to use and extended battery that attaches to it as needed.  Choose the battery capacity thats right for you as they offer different sizes along with the perfect case color combination.  Truly this is an amazing idea and worth your attention and money.  Head over to Inature today to pick yours up, and let me know your thoughts in the comments section below.

PowerPlant by tilt

This video sponsored by SGP, Quality Accessories for All Your Mobile Devices

Overall: 8 out of 10
Pros: Affordable at $59.99, charges a multitude of devices, high power capacity, micro USB built right in.
Cons: Limited availability as this looks to be a Sprint exclusive, a bit bulky.
Overall: The PowerPlant by tylt is an affordable backup battery that is compatible with a bunch of devices, pretty much any cord that has a USB.  The built in micro USB is extremely handy and never leaves you without a cord.  The biggest issue I see with the PowerPlant from tylt is the limited availability.  The PowerPlant by tylt is only available at Sprint stores or Sprint online.  Otherwise the PowerPlant is a super backup battery that was able to charge 2 iPhones to 100% from completely dead with a tad leftover.

Third Rail System Battery Backup For iPhone

Posted in Cases, External Battery, Preview, Review Preview, Reviews by Doug Drummond. Published June 20th, 2011

Rating: 9/10
Pros: Back up battery power when you need it without the bulk when you don’t.  Can stack multiple batteries for a power station
Cons: Battery is square with rough edges, hooks on pockets and come disconnected.
Overall: Brand new idea for a battery backup case.  Smart batteries will distribute power to the most full battery first so you have battery.  The batteries can also charge other accessories like Bluetooth headsets and other cellphones so you’re not limited to just your iPhone 4.  The case itself is very slim and lightweight, but protective.  Overall a great new product from thirdrailmobility.com.  Grab yours for $89.99.

Kensington Mini Battery Pack & Charger

Posted in External Battery, Reviews, iPhone 4 by Ashley3G. Published March 10th, 2011

Rating: 10/10
Pros: Compact, connector cover serves as a video stand as well, LED indicator lights let you know how much juice you have left.
Cons: I find none.
Overall: By far the coolest battery pack I’ve used for an iDevice.  It gets along with the iPhone 4 very well, in that the form factors are very similar (small and slim).  The blue LED indicator lights look great, and the pack seems to charge the iPhone quickly.  A must have for people who find their iPhone needs a little extra juice on a day to day basis.  Retails for $39.99.

Get yours from Kensington.

Video Review: Case-Mate Fuel Max battery case

Posted in Cases, External Battery, Reviews, Video by Omar C. Published February 21st, 2011

Rating: 8 out of 10
Pros: Doubles your iPhone’s battery life
Cons: Adds quite a bit of bulk to your iPhone
Overall: This case is the perfect solution for someone needing a backup battery and great protection for their iPhone 4. The only trade-off is the extra bulk, but I don’t think you’ll mind if you’re in a situation where you’re about to run out of battery.

You can purchase this product directly from Case-Mate.com for $99

Video Review: Kensington PowerGuard Battery case

Posted in Cases, External Battery, Reviews, Video, iPhone 4 by Omar C. Published January 31st, 2011

Rating: 8 out of 10
Pros: Includes micro USB cord, and has a nice smooth finish.
Cons: The case doesn’t seem very snug and you can accidentally turn it on and off while in your pocket
Overall: This is a very nice back-up battery case from Kensington. I really enjoyed testing it out and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good back up battery solution. The only complaints I had was that it didn’t feel completely snug on the iPhone and I wish the on and off switch was a little stiffer and not easy to accidentally turn on while in your pocket.

You can purchase this product from Kensington.com for $55

Video Review: Exogear Exolife Battery Case

Posted in Cases, External Battery, Reviews, Video by Omar C. Published January 18th, 2011

Rating: 6 out of 10
Pros: Light and doesn’t add much bulk
Cons: On tests, it didn’t give my iPhone a full charge
Overall: The Exolife battery is a nice slim solution for those that find themselves running out of juice by mid day. It’s very small and doesn’t take up much space in a purse, laptop bag or even a pants pocket. On initial tests, I wasn’t able to get the battery to fully charge up my iPhone to 100% after being drained. It would only charge up to about 60% and then turn off. Our editor, Mark Kennedy has this same battery though and he doesn’t have any issues with his so it might just be an isolated incident.

The Exlolife battery case retails for $89.95 and can be purchase from Exogear.com
