Apple is fairly quick about pulling these types of apps. So if you’re interested in tethering your phone, without paying your carrier’s fees, you should pony up the $1.99 for this app. As shown in the video above, getting tethering to work isn’t the most straight forward process but it works. The design is based off of a leaked prototype from earlier in the year. So we of course do not know if this is indeed the iPhone 5. However someone must, because they went to the truble of making a lot of cases for it already. October 4th cannot come any quicker.

Headlining the presentation will no doubt be Apple’s new CEO Tim Cook. Mr. Cook will be accompanied by the usual Apple VP brass as the media event makes it runs. More importantly the event is said not to include Steve Jobs. No stranger to Apple events, this will be Tim’s first opportunity to show us ‘one more thing’.

One of our sources has sent us a variety of iPhone 5 Cases. While there have been different cases that have been leaked within the last couple of weeks, there is an interesting addition to the bunch, a leather holster case for the supposed iPhone 5. The case leaks hints strongly towards the designs that were on Case-Mate’s website yesterday and the other cases that have been leaked over the last couple of months. The cases suppose that the iPhone 5 will feature an all new design with a flat back, tapered edges, a mute switch moved and an overall bigger phone. More cases are below.

This could be more proof of the possibility of a completely revised iPhone. In the recent days, news has been spreading about the iPhone 4 getting a spec bump like the 3G received in the form of the 3GS. However Unwire.hk got their hands on a proposed screen protector for the all new phone. What we see is a much larger screen and a new home button. We’ve seen new case designs in the past which go along with the screen protectors found. But I for one will not believe it until I see it. Remember the iPhone Nano?

That was the internet buzz a few moments ago. It seems as if someone over at CBS’ WhatTrending twitter account decided to tweet that Steve did in fact die recently. Unfortunately this at the moment seems to be false. CBS has updated their twitter account with the above tweet, however that wont stop the flurry of tweets and blog posts discussing the possibility to Mr. Jobs supposed death. We know he in fact has not been healthy, which no doubt is the primary reason he stepped down as CEO of Apple. Hopefully this is just rumor, and if he were to die it wouldn’t be posted to twitter first.

AT&T is back with a gift for you again. Previously on the site we posted AT&T offering 1K rollover minutes for free to anyone who sent a text message to a certain number. Well it seems as if the gift is back again. You just need to send the word ‘YES‘ to 11113020, to receive your free minutes. Shortly to follow you should receive this message on your mobile device. I do not think this is specific to iPhones, but it obviously is to AT&T customers. If you’ve had success with it, please let us know.

We recently received a tip about an online parts supplier which has gotten their hands onto an iPhone 5, or what they refer to as an iPhone 4S, LCD Screen/Digitizer. As you can see from the image, it doesn’t seem like the screen size has changed much, if at all. The other interesting thing you’ll notice is the small circle cutout next to the proximity sensor at the top of the phone. This is likely where an LED would be placed to alert the iPhone owner of calls and other alerts.

If you remember the Keynote of iOS 5 that Mr. Jobs gave a few weeks back, you’ll call to mind the iOS 5 features slide which clearly identified (click on the image to enlarge) “LED flash on incoming calls & alerts” as one of the many options that would be available.

Clearly right now the only LED on the iPhone 4 is on the back of the phone which is used for the camera flash. This isn’t the optimal location if the LED was to be used as an additional method of alerting us of calls. There was suspicion that the LED was going to be placed on the front of the iPhone and be used as an additional flash for the front facing camera as well, but from the images we have here of the LCD/Digitizer, it doesn’t look like the LED would be exposed fully, but it’s just hiding beneath the semi-transparent surface. Of course we do see a lot of these “leaked parts” the closer we get to launch day, and only time will tell if this is indeed the official LCD/Digitizer, or if perhaps it’s based off a prototype or a fake all together. You’ll also notice on the larger images [after the jump] that one of the ribbons says “©2010 Apple”. For what it’s worth, I don’t think the next iPhone will have a larger screen or a different form factor from the iPhone 4, but what do you think? One could say it is because more people use more than 1K text messages in a month, however some would say it is because AT&T wants more of your money. I tend to think the latter. AT&T has just announced they will no longer carry the $10/1000 message plan. The only two options remaining will be the $20/Unlimited and $30/Unlimited Family plans. Their reasoning:

“We regularly evaluate our offers and are making some adjustments to our messaging lineup.

Starting August 21, we’re streamlining our text messaging plans for new customers and will offer an unlimited plan for individuals for $20 per month and an unlimited plan for families of up to five lines for $30 per month. The vast majority of our messaging customers prefer unlimited plans and with text messaging growth stronger than ever, that number continues to climb among new customers. Existing customers don’t have to change any messaging plan they have today, even when changing handsets.”

Personally Im not buying it. Just another way to grab and extra $10-20 from the pockets of millions of customers.
