Case-Mate and Pong today announced a new partnership to manufacture and market their innovative “Bounce” suite of smartphone cases. The Bounce cases employ Pong’s patented technology that redirects radiation away from consumers’ heads. The devices are proven in laboratories certified by the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) to redirect away from the user at least 60% of “normal” cell phone radiation and 85% of “hot spot” radiation while maintaining full signal strength. Here are some features of Bounce products:
  • Innovative:  Bounce cases feature a sleek design coupled with ground-breaking radiation-reducing technology.
  • Trustworthy:  The devices are proven in FCC certified laboratories.
  • Effective:  A paper-thin internal circuit board deflects away from the user at least 60% of constant radiation and re-directs 85% or more of “hot spot” radiation.
  • Durable:  The slim, flexible case is impact resistant, so the phone is protected from potential scratches and scrapes.
More  after the break.
Pricing and Availability
Bounce cases will be available in a variety of colors and will launch in early Q4 for $49.99, including a free screen protection kit. To purchase, please visit http://www.case-mate.com.

One of the big achievements for the new iPhone 4 is the sleek new look and form factor, but some are still having trouble adapting to the multi touch display and would rather have a slide out QWERTY keyboard.  If you’re nodding your head in agreement, behold the Mini Key, a third-party iPhone case that also comes equipped with its very own slide-out QWERTY keyboard.  Accessory maker Nuu has created such a concept, the Mini Key case is a back lit keyboard that attaches to the iphone in a case and hooks up via bluetooth.  Despite the hype of such an accessory, apparently it comes with some drawbacks.  Tech blog Engadget reports that they found the Mini Key prototype’s physical keys to be clumsy, and the Bluetooth connection and extra battery drain to be annoying.  The internet and social medias have been buzzing about this new device, but adding all the extra bulk to the attractive slim phone might prevent many from adopting the $60 priced case. It’s slated to release near the end of the year. Maybe we’ll see this design adapted to a Bluetooth game controller PSP Go style.

Apple released a statement today stating the signal bars being displayed is the culprit behind the issue. Apple claims the display is showing the wrong amount of bars, which is giving the user a false reading. Earlier when consumers were reporting signal loss problems, Apple was attributed with saying it was the way users held the device which inadvertently blocked the antenna and adding a Bumper Case should solve the problem.  The antenna was placed at the bottom of the phone this time, something Apple says most cellphones do, but engineers for Apple say this is the main reason signal strength is compromised.  Apple is apparently going to release a software update for the 3G, 3GS and iPhone 4 later that will make the first three bars taller and more easy to see.  Read the official statement from Apple by clicking here.
